MATTERS OF THE HEART
![]()
Matter's of the heart deals with the human condition as we face everyday issues in living out our Christian life. Each of us should endeavor to strive and take responsibility as Christians in living out the example that Christ has laid out for us in the scriptures. The word tells us to be doers of the word and not only hearers of the word, (see James 1:22). We must remember that one starts out in the natural and believes in faith for the supernatural to happen. This may seem to be an abstract picture but it soon becomes a reality in the physical world when God moves to reveal himself when a person has faith. In my early days as a Christian my one desire was to know more about our Lord and how I can grow to be a better person. I was dealing with personal issues as a teenager when my parents was separated and then divorced after 15 years of marriage. I lived with my father who adopted me when I was two years old. I was trying to find out who I was and what purpose my life had in this world. Does this sound familiar? Dealing with pain, heartache, separation, and loniness is hard when going through the emotional tramas of life circumstances. If it wasn't for the grace of God and the experience of His love for me I might of ended my own life. God saw my need and replaced my pain and heartache with His love. I am amazed at what God can do in people's lives and as a Christian I am reminded what Jesus said in Luke chapter 12:34 and Matthew 6:21, "for where your treasure is there will your heart be also." The word treasure in this verse here means funds or revenues for which we strive after in this world and this becomes a hate/love relationship (see verse 6:24 of Matthew). The question asked, is whom do we serve? Each of us must answer for himself that question, but it begins within our human heart. The following are insights into practical Biblical teaching on Christian living taken from messages that was shared in the evening chapel service at the Bread of Live Mission in Seattle. These messages were put into a newsletter for distribution and used in many Bible studies. We pray that these messages will help you to grow in Christ as you read and meditate upon the topics listed below.
